Maine becomes part of the Massachusetts Bay Colony.

The southern part of the state is absorbed this year. Massachusetts Bay purchases the northern part before Charles II can reclaim the charter from the grandson of Sir Ferdinando Gorges in 1677 [1669, 1678-Holloron]. Maine separates from Massachusetts in 1819.*
